PLIGHT OF RAIL PASSENGERS IN INDIA

Indian Railways is an important department of Government of India and has a monopolistict functioning as there is no other player in passenger transportation. We appreciate the extension of rail network and criticise the poor functioning in terms of its accountability towards the passengers.
I was having my reservation ticket for SWARN SHATABDI (LKO TO NDLS) on 24th Jan. 2010.
All of sudden it was cancelled. I was having no guidence and option from railways except to getting my ticket cancelled. It took almost one haur to get the ticket cancelled. Thre was no alternative arrangement from the railways to board the passengers in some other train to ensure their timely arrival.
Passengers were left to their own alternatives and I was one to take the BUS SERVICE to reach Delhi. It took almost 20 hrs to reach Delhi. Imagine the plight of railway passengers where railway does not show the gesture of accountability except to saying "We regret for the Inconvenience' What will happen with Railways? It should be corporatized.
